Where can I buy Old Market Sourdough Breads?
It is currently available at all Omaha and Council Bluffs Hy-Vee Stores. In most stores it can be found in or near the store's bakery area. If not, please ask any store employee. We have included a list of Hy-vee locations on our "Contact Us" page, for your convenience.

Can I order bread to ship to friends outside the Omaha area?
Absolutely! We use next day air so it arrives fresh. Please call our bakery office to discuss the assortment you prefer. (402 505-8066)

What is "sourdough?"
Sourdough is a fermented mix of water and grains with yeasts and friendly bacteria that live harmoniously together adding leavening and flavor to bread. These are "wild" yeasts that thrive naturally on grains, fruits and vegetables. Sourdough bread is not necessarily sour, but quite mildly flavored with rich, complex deliciousness.

Is Old Market Sourdough bread low fat?
Yes. There is no oil added. The tiny amount of fat that shows on our nutrition label is what is naturally found in all whole grains.

What about preservatives?
At Old Market Sourdough we never add any type of preservative, additive or dough conditioner. The sourdough acts as a natural preservative and you may notice our bread doesn't mold as fast as yeast breads, but it's best used within a couple days of purchase. If you want to store it for later use, it does freeze well. Let it thaw at room temperature. Microwaving will make it tough.
